I really liked the back story of Evan and Kelsey. It's said that women mature much faster than men, therefore I can understand how hard it was for Evan as a young man graduating from college and about to go to Law School. I get that he didn't want to get so caught up in a woman that he could fall short of his goals. And it really wasn't that he didn't want to, but he was scared that it would happen.
I also understand Kelsey's feelings. After loving her friend all through college, to watch him with other girls, she had to get herself together and move on. She just unfortunately moved on to her dick of a husband. Although part of her heart was always with Evan, I believe she gave it her all to make it work with Todd.
But, I sure understood Evan thinking she still loved Todd when she wanted to leave their magical week in Hawaii to check on Todd after his accident. Although, I do believe he should have spoken to her about it. But, Kelsey really needed her time to understand what she wanted and needed.
I love how the receptionist/secretary at Evan's office was all gossipy about his trip, only to see he and Kelsey walk out holding hands. She had been in the friend zone for so long, it was a shock.
Sweet story, but kinda short for me. Just felt like there were things and emotions missing. But, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series, which I have.
