Secret Maneuvers (Ex Ops, #1)Secret Maneuvers by Jessie Lane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Young love...

description

Bobby Baker told Annabelle "Belle" Smith he would always take care of her. And with an abusive father, it was a miracle she believed in love at all. But when Bobby sent Belle a "Dear Jane" letter from bootcamp, she shut down and disappeared from their small town in Georgia.

Fifteen years later...
Bobby Baker is now a member of a secret government organization called Ex Ops, who go in and do everything the government can't legally do. During a new mission brief, Texas ATF agent Annabelle Roberts walks in. Bobby knows immediately that this is his Belle.

Lies, misunderstandings, danger, kidnapping and critical injuries come between them. They both have to learn to forgive and believe in love again.

I thought this book had a lot of potential. I would have liked more danger. I also felt that Bobby didn't have as much right to be as pissed as he was. I can understand his anger, but thought he held on too long. Even his friends/brothers told him he was being an ass.

Seth was one of my favorite characters. He may be young, but he was wise beyond his years. (view spoiler)Teagan also gave Bobby some good what-for.

I wanted to like this more, but it felt lite in a lot of places where it could have had some gravitas and missed a few opportunities to do so. I want a book where Declan and Teagan emotionally duke it out. But I will definitely settle for knowing more about Riley.
