Ella Hayes has left her pride due to her sister matting with her ex. On her way to her new pack, she meets a sexy lone-wolf shifter, Asher Kincaid, with whom she's one hot (sex fueled) night before continuing to her new home.
Two weeks later Ella meets the new head of security at her job and her new alpha's cousin, Asher Kincade. Though Asher has been alone after losing his mate for almost a hundred years, he knows right away that Ella belongs to him. And he goes about making sure she knows that as well.
There is mystery and drama along along with some intense moments before everything is said and done.
I liked this, but as a novella it felt a slightly incomplete. Maybe it's because I haven't read the two previous books in this series, which cold potentially give me more insight into the way the author frames these characters. I just felt like something was missing, that I can't quite put my finger on. Possibly anticipation. I'm not sure.
Anyway, I liked the idea behind it. I even think the writing was good to an extent. I just wanted more emotion, anxiety, anticipation... all those adjectives... from the story.
