I hate it when other people review books and they haven't gone beyond the first 100 pages, but I have to say that I just can't do it. I don't know how to explain how hard I found it to read this book. It seems to jump all over the place.Quentin Coldwater (the primary character) seems to find a way to be miserable no matter what he's doing or what world he's in. I'm hoping that if I eventually finish this book (some time in the future), that some of the storylines I feel are hanging in the air, will be explained. Which is the problem with not finishing a book. But I just can't.... It's so hard.
I am someone who can read the minimum of 300 pages in a day and I have spent two days on this book an haven't gotten past page 70. Enough said! Publisher's Weekly described the book as "derivative" and I should have listened. Generally their starred reviews don't do it for me, but they were so right in this case. At least up to the pages I have read.
Well on to the next book.... SWOON by Nina Malkin
