This book is really slow. I know what it's trying to be, but I just think it took too long to get there as well as being a hard to get excited about.It's easy to see that Jack is a bad guy and using Nico to get information. If Nico's stepfather, Fergus, would just talk to him and tell him what's going on with him instead of forbidding him to do things, then maybe Nico would understand the ramifications of what's going on. But I guess that wouldn't propel the story along. There are constant miscommunications from everyone. No one seems to be able to say what they are really feeling or what they really want, and I know that's pretty typical for teens, but even the adults don't seem to know how to express themselves clearly.
I just think this could have been better. There was great potential to be thrilling, action driven and high octane, but fell short in all areas.
