SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater

To be honest I haven't read Twilight, but if it's anything like this book, I think I would like it. Shiver is well written, smoothly telling the story of two people destined to be together. As the reader you feel the tug of their connection. How badly they want to be together and how they try to make every moment count. Sam hides from Grace the fact that he most likely will become a wolf this winter and never return to human form. Grace knows but ignores all the signs in order to live in the fantasy of what could be.

At the same time, Jack, a violent person to begin with has been changed and is doing everything that is against the rules. He tells Grace's friend Olivia what he is as well as biting her believing that this will cure him if he passes the curse along. Then there's Shelby who hated being human an loves being a wolf and wants to be by Sam's side as the leader of the pack. But Sam doesn't want to be leader, he doesn't want Shelby and he doesn't want to be a wolf.

Grace has both parents, but they are selfish and neglectful

So many levels of teen angst, bullying and young love. Really sweet story.
