THE LESSON PLAN (Lords of Lancashire #1) by Jackie Barbosa

The Lesson Plan (Lords of Lancashire #1)The Lesson Plan by Jackie Barbosa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading Carnally Ever After, there were a few pages giving the reader a sneak peak of this book. I had to have it. Read it right away and really liked it a lot. And, I don't generally read historical romances. I generally bypass them, but I mistakenly requested Carnally Ever after on NetGalley, which lead me to this book by the same author.

The Honorable Miss Winifred Freddy Langston has made it to the age of twenty-one without being taken to London for her coming out. She's always seemed to be able to sweet talk her father and brothers, who would be leave they would be required to be there and subsequently in the vicinity of young women looking for husbands, from making her go. But her father has passed away and her eldest brother is determined to marry her off.

Freddy wants one last hurrah and decides to go to Miss May's house of ill repute to see what all the fuss is about. But Conrad Pearce, who's younger brother is Freddy's best friend, gets wind of her scheme and is recruited by Nash, her eldest brother, to teach her a lesson.

But when Conrad dresses as a highwayman and kidnaps Freddy, they both get more than they bargained for.

I really liked this one. It was hot and funny and smart. Freddy was tough and smart girl, during a time when women were to be seen and not heard. To look pretty and do things that would make a good wife, but not be in love or have sex the way a mistress would. But Conrad has always been attracted to his brother's friend, though he knew he shouldn't be. He thought he needed a wife befitting his station and who would be just as stiff and boring as he was.

But Freddy's wild personality and how she dressed in breeches instead of dresses actually turns him on. He was so hot for her, everything she did destroyed every plan he had.

I just wished it had been a longer story so we could learn more about the other people in their lives.
