I really like the concept of the book. I'm even interested in reading where this goes. But I had serious issues with the book. Firstly, there were too many characters thrown at me in the beginning of the book. So many that I'm still not sure who everyone is or what they all mean to each other. Example, I think Dakota is Faith and Harmony's brother, but I'm not quite sure what he means to the story other than being a friend of Carson's But how are Harmony and Faith in the picture as friends to the family? Are they supposed to be friends of Nathan's who know about Maryah? Also the older characters, I was confused about. Everyone but Sheila.

Secondly, I get that Maryah was supposed to be an erased then a new soul, but the author didn't have to make her so gullible. I mean, River is all over her trying to be her boyfriend, when she's saying in every way, lets be friends. He dumps April, while she's caring for her sick mother. He's a real peach...NOT! How could she be friends with this guy? I get she needed someone to be a friend to her outside of the Luna's, but come on. He's not the only person she could have met in that school. He was self-involved, narcissistic and crazy. The author kept telling us that she doesn't think she's pretty or special. Basically she has a low opinion of herself, but to be so low on yourself that you think you can only be friends with a guy like River, is nuts.

Thirdly, Nathan. Now I get that he wanted Maryah to remember him and their lives together, and the fact that he's been without his soulmate for most of his life has been hard. But, to not understand the fact that she'd just lost her parents and was emotionally fragil is crazy. He just drops a hot air balloon out of the air with them in it. Is he CRAZY? I did love how she kept calling him Nut Job, in her head, after he almost killed her. I did feel his pain of not wanting to be around her when she couldn't recognize him.

Now it sounds like I didn't like the book, but I know there is something there and it's leading towards something that could be great. There's an opportunity there. We can only wait and see.
