Jackson is Lucie Miller's ( Seducing Cinderella - Fighting For Love #1 ) brother. He is to pick up her best friend Vanessa in Hawaii, who is there to help with the preparations for Lucie and Reid's wedding. It appears that Lucie got food poisoning and wasn't able to travel. But when Jackson shows up late, all of Vanessa's "Lucky 7" rules to live by, come into play:

7. Never take your responsibilities lightly.
6. Never indulge in the poison of lies.
5. Never let a fling last more than three days
4. Never date a man who chooses fists over words.
3. Never date a man who lacks a stable future.
2. Never relinquish control.
1. Never fall in love.

These rules, she got the idea from NCIS, which I thought was funny. But the fist thing that Jackson does is lie to her. Now it's a minor lie, and considering that they are both attracted to each other, it's a lie that has given them both what they want from each other. But the fact that Vanessa is so strick about her rules, it causes her to turn away from Jackson when she finds out.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like lying either and Jackson should have bitten the bullet and told her. Because the longer it went on, the worst it was going to be when it finally came out. Don't quantify it with all kinds of excuses, which he did and didn't even finish telling her before she found out in a strange way.

Everyone knows that lies always come out in the end and the more precarious they are the easier it is for it to come out. So the fact that he didn't realize she would be more mad at the end instead of coming clean sooner, was ridiculous.

I thought it was sweet. It got a little slow in the middle, but all together a sweet romance.
