THE WINEMAKER'S DINNER: APPETIZERS by Dr.Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond

The Winemakers Dinner: Appetizers (The Winemakers Feast)The Winemakers Dinner: Appetizers by Dr.Ivan Rusilko
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Thank goodness I got this book when it was free.

I really only liked the part where Jaden visits with Ivan's family for Thanksgiving. I don't like giving bad reviews, but feel I really have to in this case. The writing, especially the dialogue was very uncomfortable. Like someone was waxing on poetically, when most people don't speak that way. Maybe that's why the time with his family was the better part of the book, because it felt more real. For the most part, it just felt like the writing was trying to make me feel something instead of letting it happen more organically.

I didn't like that he called her baby girl, because it felt strange and out of place. I also felt like he reminded me of guys that I've known or met before who are so pretty and into themselves that they are almost caricatures of real people. Like they are always putting on a way about them. The author describes him at the beginning of the book, but doesn't mention until towards the end of the book that he has a silver hoop earring in his ear. I'm thinking, where did that come from? Also, it could be a Miami way of dressing, but grey jeans are not cute.

And, what kind of doctor is he? The writing was so focused on him being a Mr. USA/model/bodybuilder, to make him seem so good looking, I still don't know what kind of doctor he is. Is he a medical doctor or did he get a PhD in something else, which basically allows him to be a nutritionist? Calling him Dr. all the time, it was like they were bashing me over the head with it, but not telling me much about what he actually did.

Then towards the end of the book, he stays away from her the entire week before she leaves for Los Angeles, only to later say that the hours she was away, that couldn't bare? what is that about? That makes no sense to me.

I almost gave it a single star, but I don't like saying I hate anything and as I previously mentioned, the time with his family seemed sweet and fun. But the rest of it wasn't worth actually paying for it. Thank goodness I didn't have to.
