It was just okay. I thank goodness it was free and short. If I had paid for it, I may not have been as forgiving. There was just no anticipation, of either the guy, Holm Arthurs (horrible name), stalking FBI, Special Agent, Olivia Albert, whom she's been tracking, or the inevitable meeting between Olivia and her first love, Sam Clayton.

There are times I don't even know for sure who's talking. Case in point, when they are talking about the letters. I'm not sure if she got his or if she told him it was AWOL. Also, there's no real emotional consideration as to why she all of a sudden decides she's willing to make things more permanent with him. First she says this is just one moment in time, then all of a sudden, she's waiting for him and hoping he feels the same way she does.

I just bashed the previous short story/novella I'd read about not giving me enough back story or information. This one gave me too much. Yes, I know there in the forest during a raging fire. Yes, I know she's tracking a potential terrorist. But good grief, all the information about the fire and what direction it was coming from and what the sky looked like added nothing to the impending anxiety of being caught in a forest fire. Or the fact that the person she was tracking was tracking them.

This just didn't work for me.
